Joshua Watson, Ed.D.

Dr. Joshua is a passionate educator and lifelong learner, with a strong commitment to equity in all areas of education. For well over a decade, children and adults have benefited from his engaging approach to teaching and learning. This includes learners across the U.S. and abroad, in countries such as Argentina and Canada. He has held multiple roles from K-12 classroom teacher to principal, as well as professional development leader and corporate trainer. In addition to teaching English and Social Studies, the majority of Dr. Joshua’s career has dealt with behavior management and intervention. He understands that genuine human connection and positive relationships create the foundation for learning to thrive. 

In both general and specialized education, Dr. Joshua has worked closely with students that have social and behavior difficulties. He has built relationships with parents and school staff, as a liaison between home and school environments. Dr. Joshua has also facilitated professional learning for adults in many fields, who support individuals with behavior difficulties. This includes experience as a transformational leader in reforming school discipline policies. 

Dr. Joshua’s experiences are strengthened by his earned degrees in Elementary Education (B.A.), School Administration (M.S.Ed.), and Education Policy, Organization, & Leadership (Ed.D.). These degrees may add credentials, but Dr. Joshua's passion for helping children with behavior difficulties is what fuels the work he does. A passion that comes from being one of those children, himself. This gives him a unique perspective of being on both the student and school staff sides of challenging behavior. He understands what it feels like to be mistreated because of his behavior and knows the frustration of trying to help a child who's behavior causes social problems. 

Through Watson Way, Dr. Joshua seeks to help children understand themselves and the world around them, while supporting the people that care for them.
